The day of reckoning. I’ve been putting it off and it just can’t wait any longer. I need to lose 25-30 pounds. Period. Now, I’m a nurse practitioner, you know that I know what to do to lose weight. It’s simple……eat less, exercise more. So easily said…..and so hard to do.
Structure is helpful to me…..I need lists…..things to check off. So when I visited my sister to do a dressing change to her hand (second degree burn from burning leaves) she shared with me a book she had been reading – Dr. Phil’s 20/20 Diet.
I thought yeah…..here we go again…..Southbeach…..Low carb…..Weight Watchers…the list goes on and on.
She hasn’t started on the diet yet herself because of the recent injury….so I figured to borrow her book and read it.
I’ve done all the above diets……didn’t mean my sister)))
Well, I read it over the weekend, loaded up and ran to town to get my own copy and my grocery list. The Phase I foods for the first 5 days consist of 20 items. I bought everything on the list, the book, and hurried back home to start planning my meals.
The hubby was laughing all the while.
It’s not my plan here to re-print the book as some bloggers have….but I will share my questions, my success or failure with recipes and so forth.
My biggest concern at the moment…….is no Diet Coke. Nadda, zilch….no diet drinks, or carbonated beverages….nothing with artificial sweeteners.
This leaves your drinking choices to water and green tea. I hate water. Something must be wrong with me…..I don’t drink it unless I’m playing sports (and lets see about how long has that been…..in years?…..a while).
I have a Diet Coke in hand while reading this tidbit of information and realize…..I need to put the Diet Coke down……just put it down and walk away.
