I’m back! Sorry, I’ve been away from this blog for a while and had such good intentions of posting about the process of building our new home. Well, you know how good intentions are! I’ll still dig back and find some pics of the progress along the way, but today I wanted to share with you the great bar stools I found. Sharing an Amazon affiliate link in the images.
Our bar could have seated up to six bar stools, but we were not quite sure how much space each one would take up, so we started with four. I’m still undecided if I want to add one more or not, because I don’t want the area to be crowded and we’re still waiting for the delivery of our dining table and chairs.
But I love these bar stools! I looked in several furniture stores and did a lot of browsing online. I’ll have to admit I was a little bit concerned about ordering furniture online simply because if there was a problem or I didn’t like them, it would be difficult to return just due to the size of the shipping cartons.
These bar stools came from Sunpan Modern. The title was: Sunpan Modern 74926 Hamlet Leather Swivel Counter Stool Ivory. The legs are wood in an espresso color and the seat a cream or ivory. The description said “leather” but this actually is bonded leather….and you just have to read up on the description of exactly what “bonded” leather is. Bonded leather is like a re-constituted leather product. It does contain leather fibers, but it’s not pure leather. It was fine for my purposes though since I wanted something really comfy and easy to clean.
The bar in our new house according to plans, was to be the hopped up taller type. After discussing this with our cabinet designer, she explained that they did about 50:50 hopped up counters or regular height, and thought that the regular height was a little more “inviting” to folks. And, the more I thought about it, it was more appealing to me, especially for persons my age or so…..the standard babyboomer)))
So, we opted for the standard bar height, and these stools were listed at 26″ ht. You just can’t imagine how many times I put them in my shopping cart, then waited and looked more. They were a little more pricey than what I wanted to pay, but I did want wood legs and a stool with four legs instead of a pedestal type. Thought the four-legged version might be safer as far as not tipping over.
Another feature of these stools that I sold me was the “memory return.” I liked the idea that the bar stools would return to front facing once you get up off them. Now, after they have arrived, the swivel is pretty strong, if that’s the right word for it, but when you get it, yes, they swivel right back to a front facing position.
We like them, the grandkids like them and all four arrived in perfect condition. They did not have to be put together, just simply unboxed and were ready to go.; Here’s a couple of pics made right after we got them.
Can’t wait for the dining table and chairs to come in. Once they arrive and we see how much walking room we have, we may add another bar stool.
